I met with staff from the Academic Innovation and New Ventures department to review their website analytics and answer questions. We reviewed the data available on their website in Google Analytics, as well as discussed conversion goals and campaign-tagging.

Analytics has been implemented on ventures.gmu.edu in consultation with the Office of the Provost. The site is running on WordPress, and is implementing Google Tag Manager via a plugin. I met with two staff members from Stearn’s Center to discuss and review analytics for stearnscenter.gmu.edu and odl.gmu.edu in preparation for their upcoming project to consolidate those two websites into one. The new Provost Drupal website launched today. I have implemented GTM on the new website, using the Mason standard GTM container functionality. Analytics data from the website is feeding to the provost.gmu.edu GA property, as well as the university roll-up. I have also implemented site search tracking for the new Drupal website.

I implemented version 3.1 of the Mason Standard GTM container on the stearnscenter.gmu.edu website using DuracellTomi’s Google Tag Manager for WordPress plugin. I fixed Google Analytics configuration issues (notably the referral exclusion list) and set-up new standard views. I implemented internal site search tracking in Google Analytics.

I met with Laura Lukes from the Stearn’s Center for Teaching Excellence to discuss their analytics implementation. We identified a number of issues with their analytics configuration, notably the fact that gmu.edu domain was on their referral exclusion list, which has the effect of mis-categorizing referral visits from all gmu.edu websites as “direct” traffic. I met with Mike Sandler at his request to review the analytics on the Provost website in order to inform the Provost website redesign project.
