• postively identify visits to your website resulting from specific marketing efforts;
• control how those visits are categorized in your analytics tool;
• track/measure the overall performance of entire marketing campaigns, or types of media, rather than just seeing click-through rates for individual emails or links;
• see what users who respond to specific marketing efforts are actually doing once they get to your website.

Campaign-tagging strategy

This tool helps you to:

• easily generate campaign-tagged URLs;
• include useful information according to a consistent scheme appropriate for Mason;
• coordinate all of your URLs, along with those of others across the university;
• generate campaign-tagged URLs in bulk and you save the list to Excel (CSV).

Examples:

• The Office of Admissions (undergraduate) providing a link to the 'Apply Now' page in an email to prospective students in the northeast who have requested more information.
• The department of University Information within the Office of Communications and Marketing providing a link to the 'Around Mason' page in an email.
• A link about 'Bike to Mason Day' to be shared on the main Mason Facebook page.
• The Psychology Department posting an application link on their Facebook page.
