I met with Lindsey Olson and Amanda Corrigan of the Mason staff senate to discuss the analytics implementation on staffsenate.gmu.edu.
We discussed web analytics in general, reviewed some of the data available in Google Analytics, and reviewed the initial configuration of the analytics for the staffsenate.gmu.edu website.
We also discussed the concept of campaign-tagging, particularly for identifying website traffic driven by their email newsletters and I demonstrated the Mason campaign URL builder web application.
We identified a configuration issue with the site search in which search users were directed off-site to view the search results, making it impossible to track site search in their analytics. We are working with ITS to resolve this.
